Work is normally industrial workshops and land based units. These can comprise of catering, cleaning and maintenance work. Also, units aim to teach skills of woodwork, data entry, printing and computer studies. Rates of pay also varies in each prison, but the average pay is £7 – £12 per week. Prisoners can combine both education and work to suit whichever needs they might have.
